Safety at ifly

Flight Safety

Flight safety is a combination of various required conditions that allow a flight to reach its destination with maximum safety. It is an interaction between rules, environmental influences, and technical and human factors. Air safety is the desired optimal state in which operations are performed under controlled conditions with minimum (tolerable) risk.

Flight safety is the cornerstone of ifly S.A.’s operations. It is achieved through systematic inspection and maintenance of our helicopters and airplanes, conducted in strict compliance with international, European, and national regulations. Additionally, all maintenance adheres to the manufacturers’ requirements for every aircraft type in our fleet.

Key Factors in Flight Safety:
  • Rigorous Maintenance: Regular and meticulous inspections ensure optimal aircraft performance.
  • Education & Training: Our pilots and technical personnel undergo continuous education and skill enhancement to uphold safety standards.
  • Adherence to Aviation Rules: ifly follows all international, European and National regulations in accordance with the requirements of manufacturers for all types of aircrafts in our fleet.

ifly S.A. boasts thousands of flying hours since its inception, a testament to our professionalism and unwavering commitment to flight safety. Our philosophy is rooted in maintaining a dynamic, secure, and sustainable organization with an emphasis on safe and efficient flight operations.

Air Safety

Safety is at the heart of ifly’s operations. From pre-flight checks to in-flight protocols, every procedure is meticulously designed to ensure the highest safety standards.

Measures to Guarantee Air Safety:
  • Pre-Flight Checks: Pilots conduct thorough inspections of aircraft before every flight.
  • Safety Briefings: Passengers and crew are briefed on essential safety procedures prior to takeoff.
  • Team Collaboration: Our flight and ground crews work in tandem to enforce strict safety protocols.

Ground Safety

At ifly, safety begins on the ground. Ground safety protocols are as critical as in-flight measures and are implemented with the same diligence.

Highlights of Ground Safety:
  • Pre-Boarding Guidance: Passengers are instructed on how to safely board helicopters.
  • Comprehensive Safety Briefings: Our captains provide detailed explanations of emergency procedures before starting the engine, tailored to the specific aircraft type.
General Safety Guidelines for Passengers:
  • Always follow the captain’s instructions and safety briefings.
  • Approach and exit the aircraft only in designated safe zones, as directed by the crew.
  • Never walk towards the tail rotor area under any circumstances.

Commitment to Excellence

ifly S.A. is steadfast in its dedication to safety and customer satisfaction. Through meticulous attention to detail, adherence to the highest standards, and a professional, customer-focused approach, we ensure every journey is as safe and seamless as possible.

Helicopter Embarkation and Disembarkation Guidelines

Ensuring safety during embarkation and disembarkation of a helicopter is essential. Follow these best practices to minimize risks and ensure smooth operations:

General Safety Rules
  1. Stay Away from the Back of the Helicopter

    • Never approach or move towards the tail of the helicopter. The tail rotor poses significant danger as it is often difficult to see and rotates at high speeds.

  2. Crouch While Moving Near the Helicopter

    • Always crouch when approaching or moving away from the helicopter, especially in windy conditions, to avoid contact with the main rotor.

  3. Approach from the Side

    • Approach only within the pilot’s line of sight, typically from the sides of the helicopter. Many helicopters have low main rotor blades due to their landing gear design, making side access the safest option.

  4. Avoid Chasing Drifted Objects

    • Never try to retrieve items like hats or personal belongings that may be blown away by the rotor’s downwash. These objects can be recovered safely once the rotor has stopped.

Handling Tools and Equipment
  • Keep Tools Low: Always carry tools or objects horizontally below the waist. Never lift them upright or above your shoulder, as this could interfere with the rotor blades.

Protect Yourself
  1. Protect Your Eyes

    • Use your hands to shield your eyes from dust or debris caused by the rotor’s downwash.

  2. Stay Calm if Blinded

    • If temporarily blinded by dust or an object, stop immediately, crouch, or sit down. Wait calmly for assistance rather than attempting to navigate blindly.

  3. Avoid Guesswork

    • Never try to find your way to or from the helicopter by feeling or fumbling around. Always rely on clear visibility and guidance.

  4. Protect Your Hearing

    • Always wear earplugs or hearing protection to shield your ears from the noise produced by the rotor.

By adhering to these guidelines, you ensure your safety and contribute to the smooth operation of the helicopter. Let safety always remain the priority during embarkation and disembarkation.

Charter Pricing Criteria

Understanding Charter Pricing: Factors and Myths

Private charter flights offer unparalleled convenience and flexibility, but many travelers have questions about how pricing is determined. Here’s a clear guide to help you understand the key factors influencing charter costs and dispel common misconceptions.

Key Factors Influencing Charter Pricing
  1. Aircraft Type and Size
The size and type of aircraft you select significantly impact the cost. Larger aircraft with greater capacity, range, and amenities typically have higher operating costs.
  2. Flight Distance and Duration
Pricing depends on the distance flown and total flight time. Longer flights require more fuel, increased crew hours, and potentially overnight stays, all of which influence the final price.
  3. Airport Fees
Each airport has its own landing, parking, and handling fees. Using smaller regional airports may reduce costs compared to larger international hubs.
  4. Crew Requirements
Costs may vary based on crew availability, additional staffing needs, or the need for overnight accommodations during multi-day trips.
  5. Operational Costs
Operational factors, such as fuel prices, aircraft maintenance, and insurance, also play a significant role in determining charter rates.
  6. Seasonality and Demand
High-demand periods, such as holidays or major events, can affect pricing due to limited availability.
  7. Special Requests
Custom services such as onboard catering, ground transportation, or specific itinerary adjustments may incur additional charges.

Dispelling Common Misconceptions
  • Myth 1: Private Flights Are Always Expensive
Chartering a flight can be surprisingly cost-effective, especially when traveling with a group or utilizing empty leg flights.
  • Myth 2: Pricing Is Fixed
Charter prices vary based on the factors listed above, making flexibility a key to finding the best rates.
  • Myth 3: Private Jets Only Serve Major Cities
Private charters provide access to smaller regional airports, often bringing you closer to your destination and saving time.
